Summer Hours

Just wanted to let everyone know that we have changed our hours for the summer slightly. We will no longer be open on Sundays, but the rest of the week is the same as before. Stop by between 10 and 6 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, or 10 and 8 on Thursday and Friday. Depending on the sunshine (or lack thereof) we may be open slighlty earlier or later than stated, but we’d love to see you!

Summer begins at the Hollow

Well, summer is officially under way (although the weather in Halifax seems not to have been informed) and we at the Hollow are getting ready for book launches, readings, signings and premieres! Many of our favourite authors have new works coming out and we are looking forward to doing events with them at the Hollow.

Don’t forget about our open house this Saturday to celebrate not only our new location, but our 25th year in business! As part of the festivities, we will be having an open chat forum with several authors, including Richard Rudnicki, Susan Tooke, Stephanie Domet, Anne Emery, Richard Zurawski, Ian Colford and anyone else who stops by! As well as our lineup of stellar writers, there will be free cake, coffee, face painting and door prizes throughout the day. Many of our staff members, customers and friends will be there, so bring the whole family, we will come up with something for everyone to read, do or talk about!

Frog Hollow Open House

Hello again…

We are having an open house birthday/new location celebration on Saturday 27 June! There will be free face-painting, balloons, cake, treats, door prizes, author readings and much more for young and old!

The author line-up is still in the works, but will be posted once all are confirmed. Come by anytime between 10 and 6 to join in the fun – staff and authors will be here to entertain and recommend, so bring your friends!

Neil Gaiman!

Well, as I am sure many of you know, because it seems that some hundreds of individuals have looked at the “FrogBlog” (as we affectionately call it), Neil Gaiman has “tweeted” about us on his twitter account…

In the minutes from the time his tweet went up, our e-traffic sky-rocketed! Thank you to Mr. Gaiman for not only being a great author, but a good friend too!

Well, Frog Hollow has survived almost it’s first full week on Brenton Street and we are pleased to say that we’ve been having a ball!

Just wanted to remind everyone that our weekend hours are slightly different than they used to be in Park Lane, we are open from 10 – 6 on Saturday and 11-4 on Sunday. Stop on by!

Well, today was opening day for Frog Hollow on Brenton Street, and it was a beautiful day. Many customers and friends stopped by to welcome us to our new neighbourhood and to offer support for our move. Our store is also covered in beautiful bouquets, and we wanted to thank everyone who took the thought and time to send us some flowers, stop in to look around or even just called to say hello!

If you didn’t make it in today, don’t worry! We are open Monday to Sunday on Brenton St. and will be there waiting for a visit! Talks are in the work for some sort of opening celebration for us in the coming week, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Ready to go

Well, after a long day, the Frog Hollow staff and volunteers managed to move everything over, and have it ready to go again! We would like to thank each and every person who helped us out with the move, and hope to see everyone again on another day, with a little less work to be done!

Now that we are ready to open again, we can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow in the new store, hopefully the sun will be shining again.

Well, the Frog Hollow move is underway. We spent most of the afternoon packing everything up and getting ready to go, and we will continue tomorrow. Don’t forget, we are open again on Monday at Brenton Street, and after all this work we hope to see everyone there!

Today is the last day to catch Frog Hollow in the Park Lane Mall. We frog staffers will be closing the doors to the public at 4 PM and will spend the rest of the evening packing up and getting ready for our move down the street to our new home!

If you miss us at Park Lane, be sure to come down to 1459 Brenton Street (just past Fiasco restaurant) to join us in our new location (complete with street front window and signs!)

As the months pass and the seasons change, all the staff at Frog Hollow have come across some new (and old) favourites. We love to talk about these favourites (and even those few that we don’t enjoy) and will try to update them online as often as possible. If you want a chance to have a good old fashioned chat with a Froggie about a fave, stop by the store and talk to us! We love any chance to ‘talk books.’

In the meantime, we will be moving the store and restocking in time for the start of summer, so look out for lots of recommendations coming soon!
